Presentation of EQPOWEREC project at Women in Science thematic meeting

We were invited to participate at the thematic meeting Women in Science, that was held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. The event was organized by the EURAXESS Slovenia and it was devoted to the discussion on the challenges faced by women in science.


First event speaker MSc. Peter Volasko, representative from Ministry of Education, Science and Sport presented the upcoming strategy (still in preparation), which will address the issue of unequal opportunities in Slovenia. Mrs Uršula Konečnik, a representative of the Commission for Women in Science (expert body of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology), has continued with the presentation of the activities of the Commission. Dr. Darja Ferčej Temeljotov (Lek d.d.) has spoken about the experience of women's employment in their company and how very supportive and encouraging their environment is for mobility of researchers. Dr. Brigita Božič (Jozef Stefan Institute) and dr. Maja Veselič (Faculty of Arts) shared their experience with career mobility. The first part of the event was concluded with the presentation of work and programs withing the EURAXESS initiative.


After the break it was time for the presentations of international projects on the topic of women in science, economy and politics. Dr. Aleksandra Kanjuo Mrčela has presented our EQPOWEREC project (project coordinator, partners, already implemented activities) and pointed out why Norway is an important partner (and financier) of the project. The event ended with the presentations of project Garcia (gender inequality in the academic and research community) and OPENN (gender inequality in political sphere).
